I am a Communications and Digital Journalism student, passionate about digital storytelling, radio, and online journalism. I love telling stories that not only inform online audiences but that also resonate and stay with them. My interest in journalism has grown through my hands-on experience with CBC Radio Kamloops, and it allowed me to stretch my journalistic muscles with The Omega due to the flexibility in article topics. Through this experience, my love for journalism and communications has expanded across radio, online, and multimedia platforms, giving me the opportunity to explore different mediums.

Connection in My Portfolio
Connection is a vital part of journalism, as it reflects the impact a story leaves on its audience through reporting and lived expereinces. While writing my article “A Super Haven for Superhero Fans”, for The Omega, I developed a strong sense of connection by interviewing a local busienss owner and exploring the cultural significance of their comic store within the Kamloops community. Through this interview, I was able to understand not only the business itself but also its role as a place where people with a love for superheroes and pop culture could come together. I connected with readers by highlighting how local businesses can create a community. This experience showed me that journalism isn’t just about reporting facts, but about connecting people, amplifying community voices, and helping audiences understand the world around them. Through my work, I aim to use journalism as a tool to connect with people and highlight stories that matter to their communities. I am ecstatic to continue growing as a multimedia journalist and contributing to a field that informs, engages and brings audiences together.
