Portfolio Connection

Connection

Connection is a vital part of journalism, as it reflects the impact a story leaves on its audience through reproting and lived experinces. While writing my article “A Super Haven for Superhero Fans”, for The Omega, I developed a strong sense of connection by interviewing a local busienss owner and exploreing the cultural weights their comic store had within the Kamloops community. Through this interview, I was able to understand not only the business itself, but its role as a place where people with love for superheroes and pop culture could come together. I connected with the readers by highlighting how local businesses can create community. The story showed how local stories can reflect broader cultural trends, such as the global boom of superhero media. This expreince showed me that jounralism isn’t just about reporting facts, but about connecting people, aplifying community voices, and helping audiences understand the world around them.

Through my work, I aim to use journalism as a tool to connect with people and highlight their stories that matter to their communities. I am eccstatic to continue growing as a multimedia journalst and contribute to a field that informs, engages, and brings audiences together.
